    350 Attend Road Recycling/Soil-Cement Seminars

    About 350 state and local agency employees, engineers, contractors, and owners learned how to save cost and improve road durability at the Cement Council of Texas' seven "Best Practices in Road Recycling and Soil Cement Solutions" seminars, held throughout the state in September and October.

    New Concrete Pavement Guide Spec Released

    The National Concrete Pavement Technology Center at Iowa State University has released a guide spec and commentary about the mixture and analysis of concrete pavements for highway applications. TxDOT and eight other state DOTs, as well as the Federal Highway Administration, contributed to funding the document development.

RCC Pavement Symposium to Be Held Near DFW Airport

The Cement Council of Texas has announced that its third RCC Pavement Design and Construction Symposium will be held on November 20-21, 2013 at the Sheraton DFW Airport in Irving, Texas.

The conference will feature international experts on RCC.  They will provide engineering and construction professionals with education in the basic fundamentals of RCC pavements, and with emerging technologies that can make RCC even more cost-effective.  The conference agenda is designed for professionals throughout the U.S., and its location near DFW Airport, will simplify transportation options.

Also, contractors, equipment/material suppliers, and engineering firms can highlight their products and expertise through several sponsorship opportunities.

Austin's Hornsby Bend Facility Garners ACPA Award 

P1060343.JPGAustin's Hornsby Bend Biosolids Management Facility expanded its existing 25 acre roller compacted concrete pavement processing pad in 2011, with an additional 16 acres of continuously reinforced concrete. The innovative design by HVJ Associates, and fast, high-quality construction by Chasco Constructors, resulted in a national Gold Excellence in Concrete Paving Award from the American Concrete Pavement Association.  Read more...
