Cement/Concrete Products Recommended to Reduce Home Wildfire Risk
Harris County, which encompass Houston, has implemented the "Community Wildfire Protection Plan" crafted by the Texas Forestry Service, in response to the devastating wildfires that occurred during the 2011 summer drought. The plan helps identify community and homeowner risks, and helps educate homeowners. Two specific recommendations made by fire officials are to consider fiber cement siding for a home in lieu of wood, and to choose a concrete patio as opposed to wood decking.
